Roundtable Consultation: Immigrants Aging Well in Canada Project

This project will focus on the gaps in information, knowledge, and services for immigrants aged 55+, and address the barriers to access mainstream services and programs. This project will identify the needs of immigrant seniors and provide orientation sessions, collaboration opportunities, advocacy, and one-on-one system navigation support.

Eligibility

  1. Primary focus: 55+ immigrants (citizens, permanent residents, and refugee claimants) and their caregivers
  2. Secondary focus: immigrants who are planning for retirement and aging well in Canada

Scope

  • Collaboration and community partnership through:
    • Orientation sessions about various topics of interest
    • Invitations to senior serving agencies to provide information about their programs and services
    • Support to senior-serving agencies on how to be more inclusive of immigrant seniors
  • Need Assessments and referrals
  • One-on-One navigation support

Purpose of this first round table consultation

To discuss the needs of the 55+ immigrant population and their caregivers, including:

  • Specific programs and services
  • Topics and themes important to immigrant seniors in your community
  • Gaps in programs and services and what is needed to bridge these gaps
  • How to make programs and services more inclusive to the ethnic, cultural, and linguistic needs of immigrant seniors
