Online Wellness Support Group: Virtual Yoga Class – “Yoga for Body and Spirit”

December 2 @ 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM

You are invited to a virtual yoga lesson with Katrina Perks! Your lesson will include simple yoga postures and movement. You can choose to participate on a mat on the floor or in a chair. Move at your own rhythm, and choose from many variations so you can practice with ease. You are welcome to have your computer camera on, or you can leave it off for privacy.

Yoga is an opportunity for self-care. You are in charge of how you would like to express each yoga form. Although we will be practicing physical postures, it is not about the appearance of the form or “doing it right,” but about noticing sensations in your body in a safe, personal environment. Traditional yoga forms are modified to help you cultivate a positive relationship with your body, and give you a sense of control and personal empowerment. Yoga can help foster resilience to stress and give you a sense of peace.

Katrina Perks has been teaching yoga for 20 years. She is the first graduate of the Trauma-Sensitive Yoga certification program in the Maritime provinces from the Centre for Trauma and Embodiment at JRI in Brookline, Massachusetts. She offers group Trauma-Sensitive Yoga classes or private, one-on-one lessons in Halifax and Dartmouth as an adjunct to therapy.

Please note:

  • You do not need any experience with yoga to participate
  • This session is online only through the free meeting service Zoom
