COVID-19 Update – March 11

ISANS understands that news around COVID-19 is causing concern for members of our community. While there are currently no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nova Scotia and the risk remains low at this time, ISANS has undertaken a number of steps to address this issue.

These include:

– Creating a COVID-19 Preparation Team, which is comprised of members from the Senior Leadership and Management teams.

– Actively following the instructions given by the Public Health Agency of Canada and Nova Scotia Public Health to keep the ISANS staff and clients updated about risks associated with COVID-19.

– Posting relevant signage around each of our sites and making disinfectant supplies available, such as wipes and hand sanitizer.

Important Update: Travel Advisory and Quarantine Requirement for High-Risk Regions

ISANS is regularly monitoring the Government of Canada travel advisories for affected regions. These advisories include four levels, three of which typically apply to COVID-19: level three, level two and level one.

As of March 9, ISANS will be implementing travel advisories for the following level three regions, which only include the Hubei Province of China, Iran, and Northern Italy as well as level two regions, which only include South Korea and Japan. These regions may change in the future as the situation evolves internationally.

Advise: ISANS clients who intend to travel to level three or level two areas are to disclose such travel to their program coordinator or teacher prior to departure or return as this may impact service delivery upon their return.

Require: ISANS clients who have personally traveled to level three areas must quarantine themselves for 14 days after such travel before returning to ISANS services. This information should be disclosed to your program coordinator or teacher by email or phone.

Require: ISANS clients who have had contact with an individual who has traveled to level three areas must quarantine themselves for 14 days before returning to ISANS services. This information should be disclosed to your program coordinator or teacher by email or phone.
