Bridge to Entrepreneurship Program

Develop your products and sell at the Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market

Our Bridge to Entrepreneurship Program supports immigrant entrepreneurs to prepare and sell products at ISANS' incubator table at the Halifax Seaport Market. This program helps you develop your entrepreneurial skills while earning additional income, all with the support of our Farmers’ Market Coordinator.

This program gives you an opportunity to:

  • Earn income from the sale of your products
  • Reinvest in your product development with the money you earn
  • Learn about permits, labeling requirements, and market regulations
  • Get relevant training
  • Develop, package, price, and market your product
  • Build your customer service and other entrepreneurial skills
  • Learn about other ISANS services
  • Work on your business English

Our Farmers’ Market Coordinator:

  • Gives you space at the ISANS table at no cost to you
  • Helps you understand permits, labelling requirements, and market regulations
  • Helps you get training such as food handler certification
  • Supports you as you develop, package, price, and market your products
  • Supports you as you learn how to managing cash transactions and answer customer questions

What can you sell?

  • Products grown or produced in Nova Scotia
  • Crafted products (i.e. jewelry, scarves and clothing)
  • Fresh farm produce and food products (baked goods, jams, jellies, pickles, and canned vegetables)
  • You cannot sell hot foods or food products that spoil if left unrefrigerated

ISANS' incubator table is open at the Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market Wednesdays and Thursdays.
