ISANS is more than a service provider, we are a capacity builder. In 2012 we supported hundreds of employers and organizations in their efforts to build capacity to integrate immigrants.
ISANS is a connector. We initiated the first Local Immigration Partnership in the Atlantic.
And ISANS is an innovator. Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia is the only settlement organization in Canada providing a range of services to clients before they leave their home countries.
ISANS is Leading the Way with a range of programs and services.
English in the Workplace is a free training program for immigrant employees, to help them with on-the-job language skills. Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia offers customized individual or group training, delivered in the workplace by a qualified EAL instructor.
The Early Childhood Education Centre at ISANS (Halifax) provides care for newcomer children from different countries and backgrounds. Here, children aged 6 months to 5 years are exposed to their first group experience, while their parents attend language and skills classes.
To work in a regulated occupation requires a particular certification or licensure. Skilled immigrants understand the importance of high standards of practice, but they need fair and realistic opportunities to have their qualifications assessed and recognized so they can work in their fields. With these challenges in mind, ISANS developed the Multi-Stakeholder Work Group model. This model recognizes that to make significant change and develop collaborative solutions, we need to work with other key stakeholders.
